2nd week

Im alot more adjusted to this whole city thing this week. Feels abit more like life. Ironed out some wrinkles. Tis much better now.

Highlight of my day? finding out that Summerland isn't just for old people, I called them today, and they said they have young people too. For those of you who have no clue what Im talking about, theres an apartment building, a huge one, with an atrium and indoor pool, Wes and Bonnie lived here when they got married, and ever since then it stuck in my mind as being so beautiful, walking through the indoor jungle.. and when I found out now that its righ close to where Im working on Pembina, I was like I want to live there! and the rent is half reasonable when you have roomates to share it with, and i can see if from the back yard of one of my nanny houses!!!!!!! perfect location for the job!!! so maybe this will be my next home :) heres a picture of it for ya'all to get a good idea of what it looks like from the outside, I want to be on the top floor!!!

So I did make it through my first week living in the city. It definetly had its ups and downs,
Tuesday would of been one of the downs and you may have been able to tell from my blog. Im pretty sure that all the things that could have gone wrong this week did, and so now hopefully thats all behind me; and from now on things should get a lil easier... HOPEfully. Heres my recap: MOnday, went pretty good, Tuesday was the day that I was just hating the city, I just wasn't believing that I made the right decision at all. Then we got the snow storm, which is like my driving nightmare, its one things to be spinning and sliding out in the country, but when your trying to get from place to place in the city, with tons of vehicles around you, theres no room to be sliding around.
Thursday... oh Thursday. Worst morning ever, I had left for work extra early cuz of the bad roads, and so that was alright,I living on Ness and I have to drive to Pembina, but after awhile I was like wow its taking me a long time to get to work today, So I started rehearsing my late speech in my head as I usually do when I feel like I might not make it on time.(At least in the country if your running behind you just step on it and make up for it that way and then your fine lol) not so much in the city. So Im driving and driving and driving, and all of a sudden there in front of me is a Sears sign, meaning that I had officially reached ST VITAL MALL. I was like "You have GOT TO BE kidding me" I missed Pembina, not by a little bit but by a long shot. Driving past Pembina without noticing it is like driving past the Effiel Tower and not seeing it. I have never been so mad at myself in my life. I was 20 minutes LATE. and you know what the icing on the cake is? It was my bosses FIRST day back to work, so because I was 20 minutes late, it made her 2o minutes late, ON HER FIRST Day!!! the stupid thing is is that its not like I didn't know where I was going, I'm totally famlier with that area and Pembina and so on, i'd been doing it all week to. It royally baffles me how I could go past all the huge signs, and under the bridge without noticing. Im still kicking myself, but now its better cuz my boss was super good about it, wasn't ticked and was super forgiving. Friday was good day, I had my bags packed and in my car so RIGHT after work I came home, it was so beautiful getting out of the city, to see Winnipeg's skyline behind me and wide open highway in front of me, it was good. I'll leave today after supper to go back, Im feeling much better about it all already. I know I may never like being a city girl, but as long as my attitude is ok, I think the whole thing has some potential to be a really good experience, I can't wait till its nicer outside cuz then I wanna take the kids out more, hopefully the days will go by a lil faster then too. I do still find them long and a lil lonely, It still is really hard not to have adults to talk to through out the day. So when I get back to the apartment Stacey and Alyssa usually get a big ear ful from me just cuz Im so glad to talk! lol They are great roomates! I'll try to get my yakking under control though lol

Note to city people. Call me, lets do something. I need a social life.

I just got back from a good ol long run with my sister, my lungs are burning, Im not used to running in the great outdoors, but its so nice to take in all the countryness before I head back.
Im still thinking about joining a gym in the city, cuz I feel or should I say my body feels suckish after just quitting it. I passed my Riverton gym membership over to my co-worker Debbie.Anybody know good gyms in the city, that dont cost a million bucks to join?

What in the name of this land am I doing here?!?!?!

pretty much the title sums up everything. I dont know what Im doing here.
I'd write more, but then I'll cry. We'll jsut leave it at it was a long and lonely day, add drizzle to that and it completes it, and I dont like the city. The jobs fine (although lonely with no adults to talk to for 9 hours), and I sure can't complain about the apartment, its just the whole thing as a whole. I just dont know if I made the right decision, but I really felt that God wanted me to do this. He better have a mighty good plan in mind....

Last Days

I've been doing pretty good at not thinking that this weekend Im moving... but the fact that tomorrow is my last day at daycare has the potential to make me teary eyed. I doubt i will actually shed tears but in my heart I will..I hate goodbyes, especially ones where your not sure when you'll be seeing kids again. :( Im gonna go back to trying not to think about it.
I went snowmobiling for the first time this winter today, was good to sneak that in before the winter was over, thanks Jeff for not doing your homework to take us. Twas a nice time. Well I should get some sleep.. as Im sure I have interesting days ahead of me.

The Record is Broken

Today was a great day,
work was good, and then afterwards I went and got my hair colored and cut, totally awesome, It feels and looks so good. Im always so shy about my tresses when I go to the hairdresser cuz I usually wait till my hair is pretty cruddy before I go, but she did say my hair was pretty healthy so I was like Thank you! I haven't taken pictures of it to put on here, but its dark! the color was called mocha I think, its super dark brown and when its in the light its all coppery.
After that I went to the gym, and as much as I didn't wanna get all sweaty with my doo, I was like I think its time I give my goal a go. So with my new brown locks, a lil prayer, 2 chocolate eggs for my poor hungry tummy, and no water haha, and cranked music, I ran and ran and ran and ran.. and ran somemore, 5 minutes came and went, then 10.... then 13...then 17...then 20....at this point my body was starting to feel hardcore suckish,..then 22...now my ribs felt like they were cracking...then 25.. my old record.. whoo!...then 29...1 minute left...30! this is when i was like WHOO!!! after that I had the hugest burst of energy. So I ran till 31.5 minutes.. my new bright and shining record, thats all i wanted to get too. 3.2 MILES! I was so flipping proud of myself, it doesn't seem like very far in someways, but when I think that i ran that., no slowing down and walking when it got tough, Im super happy. and thats the story of my reached goal, 3 miles,1/2 an hour, 400 Calories.
In other news, I have 3 days left at daycare, and unlike the last time I quit, Im pretty sad about it this time, I think cuz Im super attached to some of my lil bubs there, and it'll be hard leaving, and knowing that the next time I see them, if that even happens, they probably wont even remember who I am. Sucks. I hope it'll work out that I can come back and work a day here or there if Id ever have a day off with nannying.
5 days till the move, I've now figured that Im not gonna move till Sunday, pretty much Im procrastinating, Im gonna do all my packing and organizing on Saturday and then go Sunday. I think that should work out nicely. Im still a lil mleh about the move, but I think Im gonna be ok.

My Mom and Dad

I know its kinda clique to say that you have the best parents etc, and Im not gonna force it on you this time around either, because I know most people claim to have the best parents, and thats good, its how it should be.
I do however believe that I do have amazing parents, and these are my words for them. I think they have done a stellor job raising me and my sisters, and I want to parent my kids the way I was parented, cuz I figure I turned out pretty good.

I claim to be a daddy's girl, my dads my best man for always. He's my bestest guy friend. I can think of so many times growing up that my dad was there for me when I needed someone to talk to. Im not scared to tell him anything, Im pretty sure he knows about every crush I ever had, he always knows who to bug me about. Dad knows me well, we're alot alike in the way that we think about somethings, and therefore have mutual understandings about stuff. My dad works hard, which is something Im hoping to inherit yet.. when he does something he does it right and good the first time around, none of this half effort stuff, its either done, or not done. Im hoping to inherit that as well. Sitting here in my bed, I look around my room and I see my dresser and bedside table and they are both something that he's built or fixed up, just the way I wanted them. I see my shelves that he put up, and I see my roses that I got for Valentines from him, and my valentines card that he wrote in so specially. Dad sacrafices.. he comes home from work wicked tired, but when we need him to do something for us yet, he often will. Like today my mattress came in from Sears((oo so exciting!!) and so as soon as he walked in I was like Dad we gotta go pick up my mattress, and I dont think he was too excited about it but he did it still. Once again he made sure it was done right, none of this winging it and just hoping it wont fall apart. Oh and did I mention that Dad helped me pick out this grand ol mattress, and also is financially supporting it? Dad always gets the firewood, I notice it all the time, he comes in, and asks if theres firewood, and then he always goes and gets it, its something that any of the rest of us could do, but he does it, everyday. Dad dances with me on Sunday afternoons, he's my financial advisor, and my co-hockey watcherer. He's my car teacher, he's my support, and encourager, he's my comedy, he's my moms husband, he's my venting ears, he's my father, and he's my daddy; and he is a good man.

I came home today from picking up the beloved mattress, and my mom took me to the side and led me to my room, and on my bed was bags full of kitchen stuff. Pots and pans, a mixer, glasses, measuring spoons and cup, spatualas, and flipper things, a knife, a recipie book, tea towels and dish cloths, containers etc. Pretty much it was like Christmas all over again. Happy Showers! my mom is amazing, I know this was part of her whole tradition of when we move out she'll buy us the first groceries type thing, but I didn't expect this much, she just goes all out. My mom is the most generous person, I hope to inherit this from her yet, She gives so much to us girls, so much support, so much encouragment, in everything ive ever done Mom backs me up on it 100%. She's my biggest fan, and I can always spill my heart out to her. I dont remember her having ever lost her temper at me, she is a wonderful woman of God, and always does her best for her family.Even when she's not feeling well, she'll still try to make the home nice for us. Mom is a peacemaker, she doesn't like conflict-this IS something I have inherited from her. She doesn't fight people. She's not rude. She's super patient. She loves. She does what she can always to help. She works hard. She's my friend. She's my mom.

I love you both so incredibly much, I'll miss coming home to you everyday after work, but the weekends will always come already.

A very detailed report of me getting stuck for the first time this winter

Yesterday morning I woke up about 5 minutes before I needed to BE at work; so going into panic mode I called work and said, I slept in, I'll be late. Then I tried to get to work, I didn't make it very far before I realized that I was probably not gonna make it all the way down my road even, and I knew I wouldn't be able to turn around either..and then I was done realizing and just got real good and stuck in the middle of the road. So I called my boss and said "Im stuck in the middle of my road right now, I dont think Im gonna make it unless the snow plow comes through, and once I shovel my way back home.." So I shovelled, and for once I was very glad I had left a bunch of stuff in my car cuz there was a wicked wind and it was down right freezing out there, and sure enough I pulled out some skipants and a toque. After much shovelling, I decided I needed a plan, cuz I wasn't gonna shovel the whole mile back to my house. I had a very smart realization. The wind was blowing really hard making the snow on the one side of the road alot shallower.. so I figured if I could get over to the other side of the road I could back my way home. God said"this idea is good" and therefore I made it to the other side of the road and began backing down the very edge of the road, one wrong move meant I was in the ditch, This worked for quite a ways, but then the grass line that i was using as a "do not cross or your in the ditch" disappeared and it didn't take long and I was dipping into the ditch stuck once again, At this point my sister and my aunt came walking down the road and helped me shovel and push myself out. Then I backed the rest of the way home. The End. As much as I hoped not to get stuck this winter, seeing it was March and I still had a clean record, it was kinda inevitable. The snow plow never came, so I had the whole day off from work. To make up for it I went back to Hecla today, helped my mom in the laundry department, I wore better shoes this time and I was fine, I also just wanted to redeem myself for my painful Valentines day. Afterwards Mom Christy and me went swimming in all 5 pools, the mineral one was our personal favorite, my skin feels amazing now. the waterslide is pretty wicked. It was a good way how to cap off the working day. Oh and if you haven't seen the rooms at Hecla.. wow never seen rooms like that before, totally different then your standard hotel room. I really wanna sleep there. well bless your heart if you actually read through this fully detailed report of nothing super interesting. dont forget your daylight savings tonight.

my HUGE update

Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile, between just not taking the time, and not having the time, and it not letting me sign in so I just give up, its definetly been awhile since I blogged, and much has happened in the week and a half. So Im just gonna put it in point form and spare some of the details of it all.

Monday, Feb.23rd.
I got a voicemail from one of the moms, confirming that yes I got the job for sure! Its mine if I still want it. I was at work when I got the message, so a couple hours later when I worked up the courage I went into my bosses office and quit my job. {Point of interest: this is the 2nd time I have completly quit my job here, last time it was February 26, 2007. Feb of 2008 I was also on the verge of getting a new job at Hecla. I think my boss should have always been scared when February came around lol, its just funny hows its worked this way.}
None the less my boss took it super well like she always does, I really wouldn't have had to worry about it as much as I did.
I didnt tell my co-workers till this week Monday. I think I surprised them, but most of them are super encouraging about it. So that made it nicer.

I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the city,
Thursday was a mix of shopping, doctors appt, and getting together with friends, Friday and Saturday I went and did 'trial days' at one of the nanny houses, just to get to know their routines and stufff well mom was still around, I think my job there will be just fine. The kids are super cute, and soo good compared to what I deal with at daycare sometimes. I also figured out my route from Alyssa and Stacey's to work, and the drive took me less time then I thought it would so that was really good too.
On Friday, I went and bought a laptop, I think I got a pretty good deal on it, I twisted the guys arm abit, told him I wanted a cheap laptop but not a cruddy one. So far I really like it, its bad for my facebook addiction now cuz now I bring it into bed with me.lol. This is my first blog entry typed on my laptop, tis fun.

Well I think thats all for now. I move to the city in 17 days. which is gonna come so fast, Im already in panic mode, thinking about ALL the things I need/should do before I move. Im thinking Im gonna keep alot of stuff here at home, just so that when I come home on weekends that it still feels like home. Well tata for now. Thanks to whoevers been thinking/prayin for me, I really appreciate it and it definetly helped me make my decision.
